Dr. Rajesh T R is a Consultant Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, born and brought up in Karnataka. He did his MBBS from Governement Medical college, Bellary, passing out in 1996 as the best outgoing male student in his batch. He did his postgraduation in General Surgery from Government Medical College, Mysore, bagging the Gold Medal from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, in 2001. He also obtained a DNB degree in General Surgery from National Board of examination, New Delhi in 2002.

He later joined the prestigious and illustrious Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital at Mumbai to train to be a Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeon. During his residency he was involved in a lot of research activity, principal among them being his work in the surgical treatment of Atrial fibrillation, a disturbance of the rhythm of the heart. This has been published in International Journal.

After obtaining his Mch degree in CVTS in 2004 he moved to Bangalore and joined Dr. Devi Shetty at Narayana Hrudayalaya, where he gained an extensive and rich surgical experience. In 2007, he trained in Heart transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (Artificial Hearts), at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. He then set up the Artificial Heart Program at Naryana Hrudayalaya, in 2008, the first of its kind in the entire country. He has the credit of being the first to implant a latest 3rd generation Artificial Heart in a patient with terminal Heart failure in entire Asia. He is credited with a mention of the same in the Limca Book of records. He was also a key member of the team that performed the first successful Heart Transplantation in Karnataka, in 2008, at Narayana Hrudayalaya.

He was instrumental in developing the Minimally Invasive Cardiac surgical program (Key hole surgery) at Narayana Hrudayalaya.

During his nearly decade long, fruitful stay at Narayana Hrudayalaya he gained an exhaustive experience of more than 5000 cardiac operations.

He was honoured with a special award for excellence in cardiac surgery by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Rosaiah, in 2010. He is also the youngest recepient of Vasavasiri, the highest title conferred in his Aryavysya community, to people with special accomplishments.

In 2014 he moved to Sparsh group of Hospitals with a team and eventually set up successful Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgical services in three of their branches at Bangalore.

In 2019 he did an observership in MICS in Heart Center, Leipzig, Germany.

He joined Kauvery group of Hospitals as Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery in October 2021.

He is adept at handling nearly the entire range of Cardiac surgeries. His areas of special interest include Total arterial beating heart CABG, Coronary endarterectomies, MICS (Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery), Valve repairs and replacements, ventricular reconstructions, surgery for heart failure like Transplants and Artificial heart implantation, ECMO etc.

He is also an expert in Thoracic operations like VATS, Decortications, Pulmonary resections, Surgery for Thoracic tumors; and Vascular operations like Peripheral aneurysm and bypass surgeries, Carotid endarterectomies, laser and radiofrequency ablations for varicose veins etc.
